A new campaign to encourage victims of crime to seek help and support – even if they haven’t reported the incident to police – has been launched by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw.
The ‘here…’ campaign highlights the support offered by Lancashire Victim Services to people who have suffered from a wide range of crimes.
Clive Grunshaw explained: “I set up Lancashire Victim Services to provide support, advice and counselling to people who have been crime victims or have witnessed crime. The service allows people to self-refer even if they haven’t reported the incident to police as it is really important they get the help and support they need.”
The ‘here…’ campaign features a dedicated website and helpline and is being promoted via a radio advertisement on Rock FM, advertising in bus shelters and through social media.
Mr Grunshaw added: “As part of my pledge to provide support for victims, I want to encourage Lancashire residents to access the support they need. For some people, it may take them a while to seek support.
“Crimes can have a lasting and damaging impact on victims, which is why I am determined to make sure residents are aware of the support that is available to them. It doesn’t matter what the crime was, or when it took place – Lancashire Victim Services is here with support, when its need it, when people are ready for it.
“It is essential that victims have a voice and they are listened to. People can either get in touch with Lancashire Victim Services directly or be referred by police but I want to make resid
ents aware they can access the help they need in a way that is convenient for them.
“Support is available in person, online and over the phone, whether you need someone to listen or to provide information and advice to help you cope.”
