Criminal damage and arson       

Criminal damage means destroying or causing damage to someone else’s belongings or property. If the damage is caused by fire, this is referred to as arson.

Being the victim of criminal damage or arson can be very scary and leave you feeling vulnerable. Someone destroying your belongings can have a lasting effect and you may not feel as safe as you used to. You may also have witnessed the incident which can be a frightening experience.

The loss of personal belongings through crime can be very painful. Even if the items damaged or destroyed aren’t of high monetary value, they often hold a sentimental value which cannot replaced.

If you have been left hurt or upset following a crime, we can provide emotional support, guidance and practical help.

Depending on individual circumstances we may be able to provide safety equipment such as door or window alarms to help you feel safe again.

We can also make referrals to the fire service who are able to carry out a risk assessments for you.

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t reported the crime to the police but if you would like to report it we can help with that too, if and when you are comfortable to do so.
